Approval of Minutes: Presented by: Heather Leggett. Motion to approve minutes as amended to add “This item is tabled for a future meeting.” to the “Brainstorm” paragraph made by: Stephanie Bayliff. Seconded by: Elizabeth Thornton. Treasurer’s Report: Presented by: Lisa Moe. Motion to approve made by: Stephanie Bayliff. Seconded by: Tara Loveless.

Principal’s Reports:
Terri Lemos, Munson Primary: Valentine parties and Heart Bingo will be held on February 14. Heart Bingo for morning classes 10:00 to 10:30 a.m., parties to follow. Heart Bingo for all day classes, 2:00 – 2:30 p.m. with parties to follow. Some changes to kindergarten round up and kindergarten screening. Kindergarten screenings will be held at the beginning of the school year, rather than the prior May. Date for Kindergarten roundup may change, to be determined soon.
Raquel (Charbonneau) Greer, Grade School: Mr. Townsend representing grade school. Parent teacher conferences are Monday, February 13, 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, February 16, 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. & Friday, February 17, 7:30 am to 3:00 pm. Valentines parties are to be held February 14 and will begin around 2:30 or 2:45 for 3rd and 4th graders. 5th graders have specials at the end of the day, so contact the teacher for party planning. Special site council meeting – January 18th at 5:30 at grade school, all parents are encouraged to attend.

Committee Reports:

T-shirts (Lisa Moe): Sold 150 shirts in December. Made small profit of $118.85

Penguin Patch (Gayra Wright) : Gross sales - $558.75; net funds to TAPE, $55.87. We have about 2500 incentive points, not sure what to do with them yet. Gayra is going to sign the contract for next year in order to get more incentive points and invoice deduction.

Fundraising (Heather Leggett) – Kick off February 9th: Orders due back February 28 and will be sent home the last week in March.

Box Tops for Education (Tara Loveless) –Getting milk from school and will reimburse the school for those funds The Class winners for the Milk and Cookies party are: Pre-K, Mrs. Hankins; Kindergarten, Ms. Weaver; 1st, Mrs. Bagby; 2nd, Mr. Slayton; 3rd, Mrs. Morris; 4th, Mrs. Parrott; and 5th, Mrs. Cottrell. Parties are to be held January 16th – 20th. . MPS received a check for $2,048.00 today. The most recent box top submission will generate the following checks: Munson $373.00 & Grade School $371.00. Sonic will no longer be providing free ice cream coupons, but Spangles has stepped up and donated 600 free ice cream coupons.

Yearbook (Marie Moore) - Need pictures please send them in too Marie at tapeyearbook@yahoo.com. Pre-order forms for books to be sent out before Spring Break.

Old Business: Dates/Committees – Movie night & Breakfast buddies

Heather Shaw will be helping to plan breakfast buddies

Still need parent volunteer for movie night. – Puss and Boots will be released on February 24; will try to make that date work for Movie night. To be discussed further at February meeting.

New Business:

Valentine’s Day Parties/Room Parents Responsibilities: Feb. 14 check with teachers for time and plans.

Popcorn machine purchase discussion – Tabled until we have more information.

Suggestions for vendors to bring in to February’s meeting – Frontier Bags; Uncle Jerry’s towels; River City; Red Wheel;

Book Fair Volunteer Sign-Ups – Book Fair will be Feb 13, 16 & 17. Sign up sheet sent around for volunteers.

Parent/Teacher Conference Meal: Ellen Young motioned $250.00 for conference dinners; Christina Chronister seconded. Passed unanimously.

Principal’s Reports: Terri Lemos, Munson Primary: Money to be used for IPads in the future if possible.

December 19, PAWS party – Reindeer Shakes. December 20, Movie – Prancer. Winter parties will be arranged around movie viewing. Check with teachers about parties, they might do them themselves. Each teacher may do a different type of celebration, i.e. book exchange. Check tree at front for teacher gifts. Also sponsoring families again, can pick up a tree from the front of building.

Raquel Greer, Grade School: Tape money used to purchase “Thumbs Up Awards”. Grade school winter parties scheduled for December 20, 2:30 – 3:30, or if specials, from 1:30 – 2:30. Grade School will not have gift exchanges. Contact teacher about parties. Thank you for help. Students will go outside for recess unless under 15 degrees! Mrs. Greer’s new email address is: Rgreer@usd263.org.

Committee Reports:

T-Shirt Orders: minimum order is 200, but Jeff at River City agreed to lower it 100, at this time we have just made the minimum.

Penguin Patch: Going great.

Fundraising: Kickoff: February 9, all orders due February 28, week after spring break, but before Easter.

Mugs: Preordered 50 mugs as required by fundraising company. Unintentionally done without a vote, but don’t anticipate a problem selling them.

Box Tops for Education: box tops expire in 12/11 please send them in.

Yearbook: Cover has been chosen. MGS went above and beyond on donations. If contract is signed by December 16, 2011 for next year we will get our price locked in at $12.32. Need to send in photos for yearbook. tapeyearbook@yahoo.com.

Tape is looking for people to head committees for various different events. Family movie night/breakfast buddies.

Brainstorm for ideas to spend money on hand. Heather thought about a grant program for teachers and/or other staff. To seek a grant the teacher/staff would have to have a plan a present it at a meeting to be voted on. This is something that would not go in affect until the next year. In depth discussion about how we can and should spend “tape” funds. Should it be given to teachers, can it be done fairly? Should it be used for students only? This item is tabled for a future meeting.

Your order MUST be picked up
that day & then you will need to
distribute the items to your “buyers”.
The school does not have space to store

Wildcat T-Shirt Sales

This round of t-shirt orders has come to an end (orders were due on the 2nd). THANK YOU to everyone who placed an order. T-shirts that were ordered will be sent home with your student during the very first part of October.

This is not a fund raiser for TAPE

but it is a great boost to school pride!

Remember to have your kiddos wear their t-shirts

(and spirit sleeves!) on Fridays.

There will be one more chance to order shirts, hoodies and spirit sleeves later this Fall (those orders will be in before winter break - great for Holiday gifts!).

Terri Lemos, Munson Primary: Not present at this time. Report presented by Heather Leggett. Balance at this time $6,689.92, using money to buy playground equipment – Woohoo!!!! Terri Lemos arrived a little later.
Raquel Charbonneau, Grade School: Not present – no report.

Committee Reports:
Tape Membership: 121 enrolled to date.
Directory: Need forms turned in, no matter what. You will receive a note home if one is not turned in.
Room Parents: Need more head parents. If you are a helper and would like to move up to head, please contact Heather.
T-Shirt Orders: Due 9/2/11; anything received after will be set on Second order in December. To be turned into vendor by 9/9/11. Proposed delivery date is 9/30/11.
Fundraisers: Fall fundraiser ends Tuesday September 20, 2011. Turned in to vendor at the end of that week. Thursday 10/20/11 scheduled delivery. Meet at noon to start sorting. .
Box Tops for Education: 25 – candy; 50 – sonic ice cream; 75 – working on cherry berry; 100 – free fettuccine/spaghetti from Calabrone’s. Going to have grand prize drawing at the end of each nine weeks. Also having class competitions for each grade.
Box Top Carnival: Proposed date is October 4, 2011 for carnival. Committee Chairperson, Stephanie Bayliff requested $1,200.00 for the carnival. Mr. Webb motioned for an amount not to exceed $1,200.00. Seconded by Jared Payne. Approved. Gifts for clowns: At the box tops carnival we have clowns who donate their time and supplies. The group decided to donate $20.00 for each clown. Ellen Young motioned for an amount not to exceed $60.00 for their time. Elizabeth Thornton seconded. Approved.
Yearbook: Marie Moore not present. Sold 550 – 20 left to sell. Will sell remainder for $6.00
Scholastic Book Fair: Week of October 10, LAFF night – 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Need volunteers to help set up. Need helpers to run book fair to run fair, two hour shifts. Likely – Tues, 4 pm to 7:30 pm; Thurs., 4 pm to 7:30 pm & Fri., 7:30 am to 3 pm.

Old Business:
Old Settlers Parade & Window: Spent $86.50 on window and parade!!! Went great, ran out of juice pops pretty early, handed out 1,000. Won 2nd place and $20.00 for the window decoration. Unfortunately, TAPE’s name was not in the window, committee was not allowed back in to hang name.

New Business:
Formation of new committees -
Breakfast Buddies: setting up committees
Movie Night: setting up committees
Hospitality: Need a Chairperson. Teacher appreciation dinners and other little things.
Movie Licensing: $350.00 for each school. Motion by Ellen Young; Seconded by Elizabeth Thornton. Approved.
Box Top Carnival Budget: see above
Conference Meals: Motion to provide money to school for conference in the amount of $250.00 per school ($500 total) made by Jim Webb. Seconded by Jared Payne - 6 opposed. 11 agreed. 4 Abstained. This money will be given to the principals to buy lunch/dinner for the teachers during conference week in October. This is something TAPE has traditionally done in some form for the past several years.
Bulletin Boards: Use money left over from previous vote in minutes – Board to check for what fund are available. Use those same funds or bring it back up at another meeting for vote.

Adjourn:
Door prizes of $5.00 target gift cards given to: Marjorie McClellan; Christina Myers; Whitney Phipps; and door prizes of a TAPE shopping bag to J.D. Hamilton; Jim Webb. Motion to adjourn at 8:10 pm made by Jim Webb. Seconded by Tara Loveless. Approved.

T-Shirts, Window Display and OSD Float

2011 Wildcat T-Shirt:

First up, a sneak peak at this year's T-Shirt design!! This is Emily, she is "modeling" a short sleeve tee paired with the child sized "Spirit Sleeves".

These are white and green striped sleeves (for all of us 80's lovers, think leg warmers for your arms) that tuck up underneath your short sleeve tee. You can wear them with any tee so they will last from year to year, any Mulvane team or activity. You can even wear them on your legs if you want to rock them retro style. The order form lists two sizes, the 16 inch are typically for adults. They are longer and open wider (for bigger arms). The 13 inch are for kids. Here's a pic of the back of the t-shirt. This is the "Pink" option:

The "white" option has white everywhere there is pink on this shirt. This little model is also wearing the spirit sleeves in the small size. To give you an idea of size, she's 7 and about a size 7 in clothes.

Principal’s Reports:
Terri Lemos, Munson Primary: Teacher/Staff appreciation bags are great and will be hand out tomorrow. Field day was wonderful. Weather was great. High school volunteers were a big help. 5/6/11 is last kindergarten screening. 105 to 110 children signed up for kindergarten next year. Early childhood students going to zoo on 5/6/10. Academy, High School and Middle School students are going with students to help out; 1st Grade going to Exploration Place 5/6/10. Lunch and Literacy: Early childhood - 94% guest attendance. 1st grade – 90% guest attendance. Last day of school is going to dismiss at 11:20 am, staggered with other schools. Early childhoods last day of school is Tuesday 5/24/11. Notes will be coming home. Enrollment for next year August 3rd, 4th and 5th. On 8/3 from 10 to 3 for new students and staff in respective buildings. Enrollment for everyone on 8/4 from 11 to 7 at high school. On 8/5 from 8 to 3 at home schools. Mail in enrollment will also be available.
May 12 is Kindergarten Lunch and Literacy and May 13 is 2nd grade Lunch and Literacy.
Add tape enrollment form to mail out enrollment forms. Due by end of next week. Paper copy requested.
Raquel Charbonneau, Grade School: not present. No report given.

Old Business:
Thank You to everyone who volunteered this year!
MGS Bulletin board: a spot has been chosen at MPS. Stephanie Bayliff will handle installation. No additional funds are needed.
Teacher Appreciation Gifts: T.A.P.E. re-usable shopping bags were delivered to school for all MPS and MGS staff, including grounds and maintenance, crossing guards!!!
Yearbook: pre ordered 551. 409 ordered to date, $4,872.00 collected. 200.00 pending. T.A.P.E. will donate 25 for the school counselors to pass out to families who are unable to buy one. T.A.P.E. will donate two copies to each school library.

New Business:
Meeting Date and Times for 2011/2012 school year: 1st half at MPS and 2nd half at MGS. First Thursday of each month. General meeting begins at 6:30 pm
Volunteers to work enrollment in August: Ellen Young is handling sign up for enrollment.
Old Settler’s Day: Money to be spent on give a ways, window decorations, balloons, vehicle decorations. Motion to spend an amount not to exceed $150.00 made by Stephanie Bayliff. 2nd motion by Elizabeth Thornton. Passed by unanimous vote.
Parade Volunteers: Send around sign up sheet. Participants in parade will have opportunity to preorder tape shirts.
T-Shirt sample order: Place order by end of July. Lacie Blevins motion not to exceed $500.00. Debbie white 2nd. Target gift card has been purchased. Winner can walk in parade with parent or adult attendance.
Amendment to Committees: Will combine committee head positions. Room parent list and directory – Erin and Heather are heading that committee. .
OK Kids Day: July 9th. Lynzee Backus is heading committee to set up a booth at OK Kids day. To be discussed further at summer board meeting.

Approval of Minutes: Presented by: Stephanie B. The t-shirt orders in the minutes say that the designs are due April 22nd but they are actually due April 26th. Motion to approve, as amended, made by: Melissa Nelson. Seconded by: Gayra Wright.
Treasurer’s Report: Presented by: Stephanie B. Balance as of 3/30/11: $3665,43. February 14, 2011 to Wal Mart was for Pizza Party supplies. March 2, 2011 check #2094 was actually to Target and was for door prizes for movie night. Motion to approve, as amended, made by: Melissa Nelson. Seconded by: Lynzee Backus.

Principal’s Reports:
Terri Lemos, Munson Primary: Mrs. Lemos is at the Art Show, report presented by Debbie White. Several Smart Boards were put in over Spring Break. In April Kindergarten and 1st grade are having “Literacy and Lunch”. 1st grade is April 21st, Kindergarten is 29th. 2nd grade will also have on in May. Dates may change, watch for notes to come home. Field day is May 5th. Kindergarten Round up is April 19th at 7pm. April is national Library month and National Poetry month. Please take the time to visit the Mulvane Public Library in preparation for the summer reading program. Watch for a Library scavenger hunt form to come home. Their next goal for funds are to buy FM communication systems for the early childhood classrooms.
Raquel Charbonneau, Grade School: Field trips are coming up. A big thank you to TAPE funds for helping make that happen. 3rd grade will be going to the Cosmophere, 4th grade to the Salt Mines and 5th grade will be visiting the Nature Center. State Assessments have been completed!! 5th grade music program is coming up soon. Smart Boards are in every room! Next project will be replacing the older student desks.

Old Business:
Yearbook Update: Order forms are due April 29th. They will deliver to us on May 20th. 166 yearbooks sold, $1992 deposited. A discussion regarding giving yearbooks to teachers was made. A motion was made by Lacie Blevins to not give yearbooks to teachers because of our low sales and lack of funds. The motion includes a contingency that if we have enough yearbooks left after sales are over that we will re-assess if we can give them to teachers. Motion was seconded by Melissa Nelson. A vote was placed and everyone voted in favor of the motion.
Box Tops: Current contest ends May 6th. The winning class from each grade will be given a popsicle party. Date of parties to be decided by the teacher. Expense: a motion was made by Heather Leggett to not exceed $25 on the purchase of the popcicles (flavor ice style). Motion was seconded by Lacie Blevins.
T Shirt Design Contest: Design contest forms are due April 26th. The new design will be chosen by the T-shirt committee chair and board after the May meeting. The student with the winning will get a free t-shirt and a gift card not to exceed $20. Motion made by Melissa Nelson and seconded by Lacie Blevins.

New Business:
Kindergarten Round Up: Tuesday April 19th @ 7pm. Volunteers needed to be in the small gym with the upcoming kindergarteners. Please be in the small gym/lunchroom at 6:30pm to help.
Teacher/Staff Appreciation: A motion was made not to exceed $500 for staff appreciation gifts, made by Debbie White. Seconded by Melissa Nelson and Lacie Blevins. The exact item to be given will be decided by the current board.
Field Day: Grade School: kids are going to DRC to swim, play basketball, play volleyball, etc. This will be approx the second week of May. Watch for more info to come home with your Grade School students. Volunteers are welcome! Melissa Nelson made a motion not to exceed $100 per school for field day refreshments/water. Motion seconded by Lynzee Backus. Munson’s field day is May 5th.

Breakfast Buddies: there has been some confusion caused by the event posted on Facebook that was deleted but is still showing up. Sorry! We decided at the last meeting to postpone these events (for both MGS and MPS) until further notice. I deleted the events the evening of the meeting but they were still showing up! So we deleted/cancelled them again earlier this week. We sincerely hope there is no inconvenience to anyone.

As a final clarification: we are NOT having Breakfast Buddies tomorrow OR next Friday. We will be talking about the possibility of rescheduling at our regular meeting next Thursday evening. Please spread the word to your friends and send them our apologies for the confusion!! Sometimes technology isn't so handy... :)

Yearbook order forms have gone home! Please send in the order form and $12 cash or check (payable to TAPE) in a sealed envelope (label the front "TAPE Yearbook") by April 29th.

If you don't have an order form: write your student's name, teacher name, grade, your name and a contact phone number on a sheet of paper and place in the envelope instead.

Yearbooks will be delivered directly to your student during the last week of school.

Principal’s Reports:

Terri Lemos, Munson Primary: Parent/Teacher conferences and book fair coming up later this month. During January they purchased items for Munson Manners prizes and for the next PAWS rewards party.

Raquel Charbonneau, Grade School: Two new secretaries (Trish and Sherri) in the MGS office and they are in transition. Conferences are also coming up later this month. State Assessments start at the end of the month.

Committee Reports:

Box Tops: Contest ended Jan 31st. One class per grade won a pizza party. The winning classes are: Pre K: Dyke pm, K: Seier, 1st: McGuire, 2nd: McClellan, Munson raised 6,098 box tops since the carnival. 3rd: Morris, 4th: Kline, 5th: Beck & Cottrell. MGS raised 3, 927 box tops since the carnival. The pizza parties will be Thursday February 10th. These classes will have pizza, juice and cookies. These items plus plates and napkins. Debbie Anderson made a motion to spend no more than $450 for all of these supplies. Motion was seconded by Gayra Wright. Motion passed by unanimous vote.
Yearbooks: Sale will be Feb 14 – Feb 28th. Watch for order forms to go home soon.

Old Business:

Breakfast Buddies Event: MPS will be Friday April 1st and MGS will be Friday April 8th. Both will start at 7am and be in their school’s gym. Cinnamon Rolls will (tentatively) be served. Volunteers need to be there at 6:30am to help set up.
Movie Night: February 25th at 7pm. Pajama movie night. “Megamind”. Doors open at 6:30pm. A motion to spend no more than $215 on the movie, popcorn, water and prizes by Roxanne Sherran. Motion was seconded by Debbie Anderson.
Bylaw Amendment: Addendum B, Fundraising. Proposed change was that the addendum will include: “Any committee member, or their immediate family members, shall not be also employed by a vendor or company with which TAPE is under a contractual obligation.” This was presented at the January 6th TAPE meeting. Motion to approve was made by Gayra Wright and seconded by Melissa Nelson. Motion passed by unanimous vote.
Officer Elections: Nominations start in March. If you are interested, please let current TAPE President know. Elections will be April. New officers will be installed in May.
Munson Book Fair: Tuesday (Feb 15th) and Thursday (Feb 17th) shifts are 3:45p – 5:45p, 5:45p – 7:45p. Friday (Feb 18th) shifts will be 7:15a – 9:15a, 9:15a – 11:15a and 11:15 – 1:15p. LAFF will be Friday (Feb 18th) during the book fair hours. Book Fair set up will be Tuesday Feb 8th at 8pm, MPS Library. The theme is a carnival. To volunteer, please contact Debbie White.

New Business:
Outcome of BOE Discussion: We will continue doing two major fund raisers a year. We have approval to add a small profit on the t-shirts, yearbooks and holiday shop starting during the 2011-2012 school year.
Fundraiser Vendors: Please see attached notes (to request a copy of these notes to be emailed to you, please send a request to erin_manning_@hotmail.com).
Conference Week Meals: TAPE gives each school funds during conference week to provide a meal to the teachers. Lacie Blevins moved to give each school $175 to buy meals, Melissa Nelson seconded the motion.

Envelopes will be sent home (within the next month) to order yearbooks. Each book will be $11 and will be printed in full color. Marie Moore (Yearbook chair) requested money to buy envelopes and labels for this project. Debbie Andover motioned to approve $40 for the envelopes and labels. Motion was seconded by Melissa Nelson.
Penguin Patch Results: We did $1500 in sales (reminder: we did not do this as a fundraiser, all items were sold at cost) over the three days. The kids had a lot of fun and we saw lots of happy shoppers.
Box Tops: Committee meeting will be held after the regular TAPE meeting tonight. Current contest ends Jan 31st. One class per grade will earn a pizza party. Winners will be announced and party dates will be announced in February.

Old Business:

We can't believe it's almost 2011!!

T.A.P.E. is looking forward to some great things in the coming year. Spring 2011 is full of family fun and activities. Our fundraisers are all complete (and they went great!!) so it's time to party!!

Join us at the Jan 6th meeting (6:30pm @ MGS library) to talk about the activities coming up for Spring.

TAPE is hosting a Holiday Shoppe for the kids to come and shop for family members. The gifts are priced between $.25 and $10.00.

The Shoppe will be at the portable at MPS and will be open on December 9 and 10 from 3 pm to 6 pm and again on December 11 from 10 am to 2 pm.

THIS IS NOT A FUND RAISER.

This is just an opportunity for the kiddos to shop for their family members. See you there!!!

The Season of Giving...

If you are looking for a way to donate to local causes, let us suggest two:

1.) At MPS there is a display of paper Christmas Trees located just inside the front doors. On each tree there is an item written along with the gender/age of the recipient. Take a paper tree from the wall and send it back with the item requested. (more info, including dates, is posted next to the "paper tree"). There are a variety of items listed ranging from crayons to clothes/jackets. The items collected are given to students (and their families) who attend MPS. Your child could be donating a coat or toy to a classmate! How cool is that? (all recipients are kept anonymous, except for the school counselor who organizes this opportunity)

2.) Mulvane EMS is doing a toy drive through December 18th. All toys collected will stay in Mulvane! Stop by the Dollar General to purchase a toy (or two!) and drop it off in the box by the front door. (Toys not bought at the Dollar General are also welcomed, just pop in and drop them in the box).

Terri Lemos, Munson Primary: MPS would like to thank all TAPE members and those who support TAPE for all of the fundraising efforts. A major purchase with their TAPE funds was a t-shirt for every class which has been a huge hit with all of the students and staff! There are currently 4 classrooms left waiting for Smart Boards and MPS would like to recognize that technology would not be what it is without TAPE funds. They also use the funds for field trips, class activities, to supplement snacks and reward systems. “We hope you know how much TAPE is truly appreciated by our staff”. The next step for technology is to work towards an FM system for teachers to wear (a mic) to help all students hear teachers equally. Keep doing Sonic Tuesdays! Within three weeks they have raised around $250!

Yearbook: The cover that won, by vote, was “Living Out Loud” (a Rock and Roll theme). Almost 400 cans of food was collected at MPS and it all went to the Mulvane Care and Share. We do not have the results of the food drive for MGS. Email photos or questions to tapeyearbook@yahoo.com.
T-Shirt Sales: Are in! They will be sent home with students within the next few days. This is the last t-shirt order this year.
Box Tops: Donation drop boxes are now located at the Mulvane Public Library and inside the Dollar General. Send in trimmed box tops, grouped in baggies of 25 labeled with your student’s name, grade and teacher’s name. This contest ends Jan 31st. The top class in each grade gets a pizza party. For each 25 that a student sends in, a small prize will be sent home.

Old Business:
River City Fundraising: Limo ride, December 15th, for all students that sold 25 items or more. Notes will be sent home for those students that qualify. Volunteers for that limo ride are: Elizabeth Thornton, Gayra Wright, Jared and Erin Manning and Melissa Nelson. We had an AWESOME sale!!! We did even better than Entertainment Book sales (which is fantastic!) even though we had lower participation numbers. Our share of the funds are $14,823.40. TAPE keeps 20% in our account ($2,964.68) and the remaining 80% will be divided between the two schools - $5,929.36 EACH! (for Entertainment Books each school received $4,579). As a whole, each school will receive a total of $10,508 this school year!!
Penguin Patch Holiday Shop: Gayra Wright- Chairperson. Sale dates @ Munson will be--Dec. 9, 10, & 11th. If you would like to volunteer, contact Gayra at gwright70@cox.net. The hours will be Thursday and Friday 3 – 6pm and Saturday 10am – 2pm. If you volunteer to work, you will receive a voucher for free Penguin Patch shopping! This will be in the PAT portable at Munson. We will be setting up Thursday afternoon (tentatively at 1pm).
School Bulletin Boards: We were waiting on new checks to arrive in. They have arrived so this project will be completed before winter break. As voted on at the last meeting, up to $140 will be spent on this project.

River City Fundraising

Treasurer’s Report: Presented by Marie M. There is an error in the report. The entries on 10/20/10 for $75 and $76.93 were debits and should have come away from the balance, not added to it. TAPE account balance as of 10/27/2010 is $8449.11. In the next month we will be pre-paying our yearbook deposit (75%) of $4953.74. We will also owe around $3,000 to Scholastic for the books bought at the book fair. Motion to approve, as amended, made by: Gayra Wright. Seconded by: Melissa Nelson.

Raquel Charbonneau, Grade School: MGS financial report attached to meeting agenda. Deposit for Entertainment Book fundraiser of $4754.00. They spent funds on conference week meals and school t-shirts. Ending balance of the MGS TAPE funds is $11,061.32. Mrs. Charbonneau would like to pass her gratitude onto all TAPE members and school families for the funds recently given to MGS. The school uses TAPE funds to help give students experiences like trips to the Cosmosphere (3rd Grade), the Kansas Salt Mines (4th Grade) and Chaplain Nature Center (5th Grade). November 17th MGS will potentially be working with food services to invite families into the school for Thanksgiving dinner. Watch for an invite to come home.

Committee Reports:
Yearbook: We will be having a canned food drive to let the children choose the cover of the yearbook (which have been narrowed down to three choices). The canned food drive will be the week of November 15th – 19th. The canned food raised from MPS will go to the Mulvane Care and Share. MGS canned food will be divided between the Kansas Food Bank and the Care and Share. The book (and all pictures) must be completed and turned in by Jan 31st. The yearbooks will cost $11 and will be in full color. An order form (envelope) will be sent home. If you have a photograph that you think may make a good group shot for the yearbook, email them to moore.marieg@yahoo.com. Yearbooks are delivered on the last day of school.
T-Shirt Sales: Our second and final school will end tomorrow, Nov 5th. Orders will be back by the first week of Dec.
Box Tops: Games from the Box Top Carnival raised 4,300 box tops ($215 per school) and Munson will receive an additional 300 box tops which were donated that night. Combined with what we already had to send in… MPS will receive $1,300 and MGS will receive around $1,200. The checks will come from Box Tops (and sent straight through the schools, not through the TAPE account) on December 15th. We will be having a collection drive through Feb (the prize will be a pizza party for the class from each grade who brings in the most) and again in Apr/May (the prize will be a popsicle party for the class from each grade who bring in the most). Contest details TBD. Start sending in baggies of 25 with student name, grade and teacher name. We will tally the box tops and will count them towards the Feb 1st contest and the pizza party. Small prizes will be given for every 25 that they send in (these will be given as they are earned, not at the end).

New Business:
School TAPE Bulletin Boards: Presented by Erin Manning, TAPE Secretary. Jim Webb moves to spend a maximum of $140 on the bulletin boards at both schools. This will buy supplies to maintain the boards all year. Motion seconded by Lacie Blevins. Motion passed by unanimous vote.
By-law Changes: Article IX, Section 3, monetary donations. Suggestion to change existing by-law from having two authorized signers to three. (two signatures will still be required on each check, this would just give us two out of three options to have them signed). After group discussion, TAPE has decided to leave the by-laws as written. This decision was voted on and passed unanimously. To help with our vendors/contracts we are going to tell the other companies (Scholastic, t-shirts, fundraisers, etc) that our organization only writes checks on the first Thursday of the month. This is not part of the by-laws but will be considered “best practice” to give TAPE board members time to issue checks in a timely manner.

Entertainment Books: Our total profit was $11,447.50. According to TAPE by-laws we keep 20% in our funds to use throughout the school year ($2,289.5o) and the two schools receive 80% ($9,158.00) split equally ($4,579.00 per school) upon BOE approval. Box Top Carnival: October 12th, 6-8pm. Still need extra volunteers. Stephanie has contacted the following clubs: KAY, NHS, RAD, Sevenettes & Leos. Mrs. Lemos will ask someone from MMS to deliver popcorn machine day of carnival. Agreement between principals, allows for leftover/donated box tops to be donated solely to MPS. Boxtops collected from carnival games, etc., will be split evenly between MPS and MGS. Mail in deadline is October 31, 2010.
Book Fair: volunteers needed at both schools, sign up sheet passed around for sign up. Unpacking is October 8, 2010, after school, volunteers needed then too. Need volunteers to provide breakfast for staff preview on Monday, October 18, 2010. TAPE to provide $75.00 for cash box for sale.
LAFF Night: Monday, October 18, 2010 from 5 pm until 6:30 pm.
River City Fundraising: Starts Monday October 18th and runs through November 2nd. Order Delivery will be December 2nd and volunteers will be needed to help hand out orders. We will set up samples of the products to be “taste tested” during teacher conferences, until supplies run out.

New Business:

Teacher Conference Dinners: Notes will be sent home for parents to send in healthy snacks, appetizers and desserts to supplement the entrée that TAPE will provide. Please send a healthy snack or yummy dessert to school with your student to show our teachers how much we appreciate them. Please send them to school on Monday or Tuesday of that week so that they can munch during their breaks throughout conferences.

And while you are at conferences... make sure to visit the book fair held in the school library! This is a perfect time to reward our little scholars with books, to stock up on holiday gifts and to purchase books to donate to your child's class.

Head Room Parents

Many classrooms at both Munson and the Grade School are still need of Head Room Parents. Notes will be sent home with the students whose class still needs volunteers. A final room parent list (including head room parents and "helpers") will be sent home as soon as we have more spots filled. It will be sent home with plenty of time to plan the Fall parties at the end of October.

Here are some answers to a few FAQ:

What does a head room parent do?
The most important things that head room parents do is to organize. Clear, effective and timely communication to the other parent volunteers is key. There are three parties during the year that the head room parent will organize. The first is the Fall party at the end of October, then the Winter party right in mid December and the Spring party around Valentines Day. The head room parent will contact the other parents at least one week in advance to organize snacks and a game or activity (the parties only last around 30 minutes so one activity and time to snack is plenty). If you are able to, you are also welcome to visit the schools during the parties to help out. If you are a head room parent but can't be at the party, ask one of the other parents to be the "lead" that day. Even working parents can find the time to send out a few emails or make a few phone calls to get a party organized!

Will I have help?
You will never be the only parent responsible to provide an entire party for your class. And the more volunteers we get, the easier it becomes for everyone!

Is there more to do than just plan parties?
Apart from the parties you can be as involved as much as you can/want. If you (or any parent) would like to volunteer in the classroom, contact your teacher. But it is not required.

What if I can't be the head room parent but still want to help?
There is plenty that you can do! Sign up to send in supplies (snacks, treats, etc) or ask the teacher if you can help in the class or work on a project at home (like cutting out art materials, etc).

One more thing to remember:
It is also incredibly important and helpfull to your teachers to make sure to check your child's backpacks daily, read all notes sent home and to spend the time helping your student do their homework (practice spelling words, reading time, worksheets, etc).

How can you sign up?
If you would like to sign up to be the head room parent or a "helper", and have not done so already, send an email to mulvanetape@yahoo.com. Please include your name, phone number, email address, child(ren)'s names, grade and teacher.

Principal’s Reports:
Terri Lemos, Munson Primary: Munson has not spent any of their TAPE funds yet this year. They will be ordering Munson Manner prizes and will be buying school-wide t-shirts. They also plan on buying some smaller playground equipment (balls, jump ropes, etc). Munson has started a new discipline plan, which will be reflected on the t-shirts. Looking forward to “Red Ribbon Week” (drug awareness) in October, hosted by the 2nd graders. Conference week will be October 19, 21 and 22nd. Book fair set up will be October 8th after school. Contact Debbie White to volunteer at the book fair. Book Fair preview is October 13th and will be open during all conference times (4-7:30pm Tues. and Thurs. and 7:30am – 3pm on Fri.)
Raquel Charbonneau, Grade School: Not present. No report given.

Committee Reports:
Directory: Tomorrow is the last day to send in the opt-out forms. Committee head (Gayra Wright) hopes to have directories printed and ready to distribute the first week of October.
T-Shirt Sales: Half of the orders have been inputted into the spreadsheet. The rest will be entered by Monday when Lacie (committee chair) sends the order in. The printing company is going to donate 50 t-shirts to give to the school counselors (25 shirts per school) to distribute to families who need that assistance. T-shirts will be delivered to the schools and ready to sort on Sept 30th @ MPS Conference Room. They should be delivered to students the first week of October.
Room Parent List: Both schools still need several head room parents. Notes will be sent home to those classes and lists will be posted on the TAPE website.

Old Business:
Storage Unit: At the end of the school year, we voted to spend up to $2,000 to buy/build and outfit a storage unit to store all T.A.P.E. supplies. We are still receiving bids. We also have an offer from the main school district office for free storage in the basement. This item is tabled for now and will be re-addressed at a future meeting.

New Business:
Movie License Invoices: $350 per school covers the license to show any movies in the schools for the entire year. This is something that we have traditionally paid for the schools. A motion was made by Tempe Heck to pay the two separate $350 invoices (one per school) and was seconded by Lacie Blevins. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
T-Shirt Sample Invoices: These are for the t-shirt samples for enrollment, etc. $461.70 to River City Fundraising. Motion to approve made by Lacie Blevins and seconded by Melissa Nelson. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
Picture Day: MGS (Sept 3) and MPS (Oct 14)
Entertainment Books: Volunteers needed to sort orders on Thurs. Sept 9th at 8:30 am, MPS conference room to receive instructions from the Entertainment Book company. Then the group of volunteers will split between the two schools. If you can’t be here at 8:30am, you can come late. If you need to leave early, that is fine as well. The top 3 students from each school will win a family Zoo pass and a zoo themed gift bag (worth approx. $20 each). That totals $630 of the $950 that Entertainment Book company gave. That leaves $320 for the money bag (every student who sells more than 10 books will be able to pull a single bill out of the money bag starting in denominations between $1 and $20). TAPE will supplement $300 per school towards the money bags. The money that is not drawn from the bags will be returned to the TAPE account. Motion by Melissa Nelson to supplement $300 per school (in addition to the $160 per school that we have been given from the Entertainment Book funds) to the money bag. Seconded by Angie Daniel. Passed by unanimous vote.
Box Top Carnival: Tuesday October 12th at Munson. Time TBA. To join in, please email Melissa Nelson (kscroppychick@att.net) to volunteer!! Save those box tops! You will need them for the carnival! Soup labels will NOT be accepted for the box top carnival. Roxanne Sheeran made a motion to spend no more than $800 on the box top carnival. Motion seconded by Melissa Nelson. Passed by unanimous vote.
Soup Labels, Coke Rewards: Keep saving them, more information to come soon!!
River City Fundraising: October 18th to November 2nd. Delivery of orders December 2nd. This fundraiser will be food items. Samples of the items can be found in the schools during teacher conferences.

Entertainment Books have hit the streets!

This year's Entertainment Book Sale has officially begun!! Packets went home with students today. You can sell to your friends/family all over the country by sending emails using the info on the full sized sheet in the packet. And as an added bonus... you can win a prize just for sending them!! I sent out emails a few minutes ago and won a $10 Starbucks gift card!! Woo Hoo!!

Remember that this sale is so very important to our schools. Last year we raised almost $13,000 for Munson Primary and The Grade School!! The principals use these funds (and the ones raised from the Winter Fundraiser) to supplement their budget, upgrade technology, implement positive behavior programs and more!!

Entertainment Book - Fall Fundraiser!!

It's almost time!! Did you know that last year T.A.P.E. raised just shy of $13,000 for our schools last year selling Entertainment books? We think that's awesome!! We are so thankful to be a part of a community that will step up and really support our kids.

This year the Entertainment Book will be $25 and will include even more local coupons and offers. One great offer? Dillons will have coupons totalling $20 in savings. This is fantastic because... well, we all have to buy groceries! So these coupons alone will pay for most of the cost of the book. Thank you Dillons!

Let's get ready to sell those books!! Here's an idea of a few lines that you can send to family/friends via email, text or as your Facebook status to let people know:

"Coming soon... 2011 Entertainment Book fundraiser from Mulvane TAPE, supporting Munson Primary and Mulvane Grade Schools. The new school year has begun! It was great to see so many faces at the "Meet the Teacher" nights last week. Did you see the T.A.P.E. display?

Did you grab a T.A.P.E. membership form? T-shirt order form? We are so excited for a new year full of lots of family activities, fundraising (especially in our current economy, the schools can definately put every single penny to good use!), student incentives and teacher/staff support.

Wondering how you can get involved?
1. Turn in your T.A.P.E. membership form and $5
2. Attend the first meeting of the year (Sept 2nd, 6:30pm, Munson Library)
3. Sign up to be a room parent for your child's class
4. Order your wildcat t-shirts to show our school spirit!
5. Start talking to friends/family about Entertainment books - the sale starts SOON!

These will explain what activities we typically do in a year, tell you how much money we earn for our schools (last year we raised over $30,000!!!) and how the principals use that money.

The first T-Shirt sale has ended but a second (and final) round of orders will be taken in late October / early November and will be delivered before the winter break (in plenty of time for Holiday giving!). Order forms will be sent home at that time.

The shirts and sweatshirts are Mulvane Green with a black logo on front (as shown on the bottom shirt). You will have two choices for the artwork on back. Either black/white or purple/white. Because we do not order extra shirts, all shirts must be pre-ordered and pre-paid. Shirts are available in short-sleeve, long-sleeve or as a hoodie.

Our district will be having its first one-stop enrollment this year. On August 5th from 12:00 - 7:00 pm at Mulvane High School, parents will be able to come to one location to enroll all children in our district. Please complete all forms included in the mailing you will receive during July and bring them with you.

This year, Mulvane School district is able to accept major credit cards for payment of enrollment fees. This payment option will be set up at our one stop enrollment on August 5th only.

If you would prefer the mail-in option to avoid enrollment lines, return completed forms and check payment prior to August 5th.

Enrollment Fees for the 2010 - 2011 school year (for Munson and the Grade School, the other schools may have different fees) are as follows:
* Textbook Fee: $50
* Student Fee: $10
(this fee was created to eliminate parents sending money for field trips throughout the school year).
* Meal prices will remain the same. If you require a waiver for reduced feeds, please visit our office during enrollment hours. Prices subject to change.

Breakfast: $1.30 Daily
Lunch: $2.10 Daily
Milk: $.35

Students new to the district and/or returning to the district:

Hello TAPE readers! I have another local resource that I thought you would be excited to hear about. It's an awesome combination of being able to buy local produce and meats at a fantastic cost. This is not a low income program and is open to anyone who would like to participate. Please view their website HERE for more info and details.

Each month there will be a new set of packages offered. The deadline for July is this Wednesday so head over there today! The August choices will then be available online. Prarie Land food is not related to TAPE in anyway, this post is just a heads up about a program that I ran across. I hope that it proves to be helpful to some of you out there! :)

Why is this important? The article says that: of the approximately 750 children who will drown next year, about 375 of them will do so within 25 yards of a parent or other adult. In ten percent of those drownings, the adult will actually watch them do it, having no idea it is happening (source: CDC).

The May meeting is quickly approaching. Before we know it the school year will be over!! What's this all mean? Time for elections and committee sign ups! Board positions open are President, VP of the Grade School, VP of Munson and Secretary. Because Treasurer is a two year position Marie Moore will automatically be on the board again next year. There are also several committees that need people to sign up. Some need committee heads and some need "helpers". Some of the committees that TAPE runs every year include Box Tops, Yearbook, T-shirts, FUNDRAISING and more!!

If you have questions about any of the positions or committees you can email TAPE at mulvanetape@yahoo.com or bring them to the May 6th meeting (6:30pm at the Grade School Library). We look forward to working with both returning and new TAPE members next year. Even if you haven't been involved yet... we would love to have you join us! See you on the 6th!!

Fundraising Meeting Minutes

During our February 4th meeting we heard presentations from several vendors regarding fundraising opportunities. At our March 9th meeting we will be doing a quick review of the vendor options and voting on our top two choices. These two choices will be our two fundraising events for the 2010 - 2011 school year. Would you like to vote? Any TAPE member in good standing (those who have filled out their membership form and paid their $5 yearly dues) and is present at the meeting will be eligible to vote. Any person who has a student (either a child, guardianship, grandchild, niece/nephew, etc) is eligible to register as a TAPE member. Membership forms can be picked up at the Munson or the Grade School office or at any TAPE meeting.

During the February presentations our secretary (Erin) took notes. These notes are ONLY for our personal use and not intended to be a contract or promises of any sort by the vendors. Erin did her best to be accurate but with so much information being presented, errors are possible. If you have questions on any of these vendors/notes please contact TAPE at mulvanetape@yahoo.com and/or bring them to the March 9th TAPE meeting. Family Movie Night

Toy Story:

A lovable cowboy, Woody, and a room full of the toys are threatened by the arrival of a new toy at Andy's birthday party. Buzz thinks that he is an actual space ranger. Woody spends the movie showing him how great it is to be a toy. (Rated G)

Lion King:

A young lion price is born in Africa, thus making his uncle Scar the seconf in line to the throne. Scar plots with the hyenas to kill King Mufasa and Prince Simba, thus making himself King. The King is killed and Simba is led to believe by Scar that it was his fault, and so flees the kingdom in shame. After years of exile he is persuaded to return home to overthrow the usurper and claim the kingdom as his own. (Rated G)

G-Force: A team of trained secret agent guinea pigs that takes on a mission for the US government. A specially trained squad of guinea pigs is dispatched to stop a diabolical billionaire, who plans to take over the world with household appliances. (Rated PG)

Monsters, Inc: In a city of monsters with no humans, Monstropolis centers around the city's power company, Monsters Inc. The lovable monster Sulley and his best friend Mike Wazowski discover what heppens when the real world interacts with theirs in the form of a 2-year-old girl dubbed "Boo" who accidently sneaks into the monster world. Now it's up to Mike and Sulley to send Boo back in her door before anybody discovers her. (Rated G)

Cats & Dogs: A secret war between cats and dogs quickly peaks as Professor Brody, a scientist, tries to create a serum to cure dog allergies in humans. As the unsuspecting humans go through their busy lives, the cats make several attempts to possess the formula, as their canine foe try tirelessly to stop them. (Rated PG)

Finding Nemo:

A clown fish named Marlin who lives in the Great Barrier Reef loses his son, Nemo, after he ventures into the open sea. Nemo is abducted by a boat and sent to a dentist's office in Sydney. Marlin sets off to find Nemo and meets a fish named Dory, a blue tang suffering from memory loss. The two meet many friends along the way, all helping them find the lost Nemo. (Rated G)

MHS Musical: Beauty and The Beast

Advanced general admission tickets are on sale now for $4.00 per ticket for all age groups. Tickets will also be sold at the door $5.00/adult and $3.00/student. Activity passes will not be accepted.

They are expecting record crowds so I would encourage you to get tickets early to avoid standing in line. This is a fantastic show that your whole family will enjoy. You won't want to miss it!

Are you new to this whole blogging thing (ahem, Ellen)? A blog is just another word for a website. Blogs are popular because they are free and relatively easy to use and access. TAPE uses the blog as a way to reach our members... and our potential members. Every month we post copies of the newsletter, meeting minutes, announcements and helpful links. The main part of the page is made up of individual posts (aka entries). Along the right side of the screen there is tons of great informations including upcoming events, contact info, links and all sorts of other good stuff. Take a few minutes to look around!

How exciting! Thank you to EVERYONE who helped and attended the box top carnivals. Thank you also to Gayra Wright who trimmed, sorted, counted and sent off all 5, 600 Box Tops! Here's what we raised for the school: 5,600 x $.10 = $560!!

Grade School Book Fair - Help Needed!!

Fall Fundraiser

Our final fundraiser of the year will begin October 20th! This fundraiser will be the chance to stock up on your holiday cookie dough, gift wrap, yummy treats and gifts. Catalogs and order forms will be sent home with your student soon. The sale ends November 3rd and will be ready for pick up the first week of December.

During the Fall and Spring T.A.P.E. provides meals for teachers and staff of the Grade School and Munson Primary during conference week. The teachers and staff are so busy during this week that we would like to show our appreciate by making sure they get a yummy meal. Please sign up to donate/provide either a hot dish (in a crockpot, please), soup (yep, in a crockpot, too), salad or dessert. Please send donations to the schools by 11am on Tuesday October 20th. As the Fall Parties draw ever near, we still have about 10 classrooms that still need "Room Parents". All that you will responsible for is contacting the other parents in the room (you can send a note home with the students) in order to organize the 3 classroom parties throughout the school year.
